What is this exam and who needs it?

This medical exam is for individuals applying for a United States visa or green card, for United States citizenship, or for certain immigration benefits. USCIS or your immigration lawyer may request that you obtain a hardship letter for many different reasons such as:

  • filing of either Form I-601 or Form I-601A.
  • to expedite your case.
  • for special exceptions.

This evaluation documents how your medical or psychological conditions may contribute to hardship to you or to qualifying United States relatives. It strengthens your case to integrate medical and psychiatric evidence into your hardship presentation.
