Green card medical exam made easy

We do immigration medical exams for people who want to get a green card. This is also called the USCIS I-693 medical exam. After your exam, we give you a sealed envelope with the form inside. You send this with your adjustment of status (Form I-485) application.

Why get your exam now?

Immigration policies and timelines now involve a lot of uncertainty and unpredictability.

Don’t be discouraged. Currently:

  • I-693 medical exams are valid indefinitely.
  • The rules that apply to an exam are the ones in effect on the day it is completed.

So don’t wait to get this exam.

Getting an exam done now locks in today’s requirements, even if USCIS introduces new rules, documentation, or vaccination requirements in the future.

With no way to predict upcoming changes, completing an exam now can help protect an applicant’s case.

Completing an I-693 now helps you:

  • Avoid future USCIS rule or policy changes.
  • Reduce the risk of RFEs or interview delays.
  • Be fully prepared if the case moves faster than expected.
  • Eliminate last-minute stress in a backlogged system.

Preparation gives you an advantage—especially in uncertain times.

How long to get my paperwork?

You will get your completed I-693 form in 5 to 7 days.

Can any doctor do this immigration exam?

No. Only a doctor who is a certified civil surgeon by the U.S. government can do this. We have three certified civil surgeons at our clinic.

What do I bring to my appointment?

  • Your passport or photo ID.
  • Any printed vaccination records you have.

What vaccines or tests do I need for my green card exam?

It depends on your age and your health history. But don’t worry — we’ll guide you.

You may need vaccines for:

  • Hepatitis B.
  • MMR (measles, mumps, rubella).
  • Tdap (tetanus).
  • Chickenpox.
  • Polio.
  • Flu (September to March).

Other vaccines may be needed too.

If you’re missing vaccines:

  1. You can get vaccines at a pharmacy. Most health plans will help pay for it.
  2. For some vaccines, we can do a blood test to see if you need it.
  3. You can get vaccines from us. We stock all required vaccines at lower cost than retail.
  4. We can direct you to the health department clinic that gives free or low-cost vaccines.

Before your immigration medical exam

  • You can eat and drink normally.
  • Drink water – it helps with the blood test.
  • Bring ID and any printed vaccine records.
  • Cancel at least 48 hours ahead to avoid a $100 fee.

When you arrive

You’ll fill out a short form then meet with the doctor.

What happens during the medical exam?

  • We ask about your health.
  • We check your vital signs.
  • We look at your vaccine records.
  • We take a blood sample.
  • We do a short physical exam.
  • We discuss any vaccines you may need.

What happens after the exam?

You’ll return in 5 to 7 days for a follow-up visit. If your lab results show a problem, we’ll help you fix it.

What happens at the follow-up visit?

If there’s a problem, we’ll explain your next steps.

If everything looks good:

  • You review your Form I-693.
  • Be certain everything is correct to avoid a $50 fee to later make corrections.
  • You sign your Form I-693.
  • You get:
    • One sealed envelope to send to USCIS.
    • One unsealed copy for your records.
  • In some cases, if you need a second sealed copy, there is a $50 fee.

How long does it take?

  • Exam: about 30 minutes.
  • Wait for lab results: 5 to 7 days.
  • Follow-up: about 15 minutes.

In some cases we can do the exam and follow-up in one 45-minute visit. Ask us for details.

Do I need to go somewhere else for blood tests?

No. We do all blood tests and lab work at our clinic.

Are you using the latest Form I-693?

Yes. We check with USCIS daily to make sure we use the newest forms.

What if I am pregnant?

You still need the exam. Some parts may wait until after your baby is born.

What if I have a health problem?

You may still be able to get your green card. We’ll help you understand your options.
